Something unfortunate happened to me while I played this game;
My theory on the story as it was presented provided a far more interesting interpretation to me than what it actually settles on.
I only have myself to blame, but I was on the edge of my seat hoping for some bite to a story that - as it turns out - only really deals in platitudes. I was moved to near tears by my perceived story where Tove's brother Lars weren't real, perhaps died in her mother's womb after a car accident. It made Roki painful exploration of a girl who feels through no fault of her own that she has failed in her guardian role as a big sister, an unfair burden for someone so young. When this was eventually dashed come the conclusion, it essentially had me see Tove going above and beyond for her thankless and gormless little brother to have little more than a somewhat patriarchal undertone.
Oh well, it's very pretty and the dialogue is full of childlike wonder.
